I got the news

Yup its a boy!

I'm not going to lie, I was a little disappointed at first. I so wanted to buy pretty dresses and hair accessories. But hey, he's healthy and moving around in there like crazy. The ultrasound lady was having a hard time getting all the measurements because he was doing summer salts. I watched him on the screen trying to reach out and touch his toes. It was super cute! I got the fussy picture to prove it!

I have come to realize this is a great thing! I can bring out all my fav out fits of Evan's for a second go around, Evan will have a brother to play rough and tumble with. Plus the added bonus that all the toys we have will be appropriate. It will be a huge money saver! Not that the new baby will never get new stuff, but for the early years is he really going to care?

Now I'm going to start looking at boy names again. I'm super excited now! It's more real, I can name him before he's here, start planning his room, and the changes in Evan's room as well.

Well that's really all my news. Have a good one ladies. There's another boy on the way to add to the gang.

I found a weakness

I have found a way to make Evan listen!
I've found the weakness, now it's time to exploit it!
Toys!

Simple right but I was surprised at how well it works? He doesn't listen...take away a toy. He doesn't do as he's told...take away a toy. It's got to be a big one of course, a favorite. His Dodge dancing truck, his bike, his Thomus train stuff, his Cars, cars etc.

So far he's helped clean his play room. Stayed in the yard and not gone out the front door. (I took away his bike for the day for that one, so far no more making a brake for it.

Today we started the no holds bard potty training. He's in big boy underpants (super cute) no more pull-ups until bed time. I'm just dealing with the laundry. Since Earl's off work this week there's an extra set of eyes and ears, so I thought it was a good week to really work at it. It simply means bringing extra cloths everywhere we go, along with a safeway bag for peepee cloths of course. So far today he hasn't gone on the potty, but he tells us he's wet, so at least he's uncomfortable enough to not want to do it again, and again, and again.

We now had to offer money (pennies) as a reward. He loves dropping coins into his piggy bank, so we thought we would give that a try to motivate him. I'm planning on giving him a plastic baggy for his back pack so that when we're out he can put his pennies in the baggy and load them when we get home.

Well that's really all my news. I'll keep you updated on my potty and discipline battle.

Have a good day!

Christmas Tree?

Why a picture of a Christmas Tree in June?!?!
Well I have Christmas on my mind since yesterday.
I goofed. During my ultrasound yesterday I was told my baby is only at 13 weeks! So that moves my due date to good old Dec 26! Yup, I'm going to be fat, grumpy, and tired right when jolly old Santa should be sliding down our chimney to deliver his presents.
Oh well what will be will be. The ultra sound went great! The new clinic in St A was fantastic! The ppl where so nice, they where super quick too. I was there for maybe a total of 25 min! I couldn't see the sex of the baby of course since I wasn't at the 15 weeks I thought I was. My next appointment is on Aug 4th, so here's hoping that baby decides to be in the right position for a peek. Lavender or Blue paint. I just need to know!
Well that's it for me today, have a good one ladies.

The new Doc

Well I had my first doctors appointment on Tues. I'm sorry I didn't write sooner but Earl has been off all week, so things have been busy.

Okay he's old, like really old, with a slit British or maybe Australian accent. He also has a student Doctor with him right now and he was nice. The only bad thing is its two men looking up my tulip instead of just one, oh and at the same time too. Yup, that's one to many if you ask me.

I heard babies heart beat for the first time which does prove once and for all that there is in fact a baby in there. It's seems do be doing very well since it's heart is beating and I've already has some bubble type feelings (movement) or maybe it was gas, oh well I'm going to call it movement. Dr Haskins said my odds for a miscarriage are down to like 2 percent now that there is an established heart beat, so that was a load off my mind.

He was also very good at telling me what to expect. He said expect a more jiggly tummy then before. (I kind of knew that one) Expect more discharge (sorry gross I know) Expect more hip and back pain (Yup I've felt that one) Also expect more tummy pain, even when you roll over in bed you will experience more stabbing like pains. (That was a good one to hear, because I was wondering about it.)

There is also a new question this time around. Does your family have a history of Heart Disease, Diabetes blah, blah, blah. Have you had chicken pox? Are you taking your vitamins? Is there any chance you are related to your babies father? WHAT! I had to repeat the question to make sure I heard him right. I guess there's more incest going on these days...weird...gross...weird.

Well that's it for me today. I have my first ultra sound on Tues, then another on July 20th...ish. I'll keep you posted.

Have a good one ladies.

The ball is finally rolling

Well to my dismay Dr Coe is retiring and not taking any more patients. This sucks! So I went to my family Doctor for a new referral. Apparently there isn't a single Doctor in St A taking new patents right now. This sucks. So Dr A is hooking me up with his professor! At least I'll know he knows what he's doing! The biggest problem with this is he's out of the Hias center in Edmonton (near kingsway). Which means I'll have to deliver at the alec! That sucks! But oh well, what ever gets the baby out safely I guess. We'll just have to be more carful about timing this time.

I've been feeling much better lately. My nausea is almost gone now only a little around 4pm still. My back feels ten millions times better. It seems that peanut has decided to end the torcher for a time. I' still rather tired but that's to be expected.

My sister is set to arrive in under 2 weeks! I'm super excited! I can't wait to meet Avleen for the first time! Not to mention my uncle who is supposed to be coming at the same time. I can't wait!

OMG! It's the Devil

Yup this baby is the spawn of Satan! (well not really) but OMG I'm getting every symptom of being pregnant.
I'm nauseous at least 3 times a day!
I'm tired all the time
My ass back is hurting aready!
My nipples still hurt when touched by even my shirt! Let alone my hubby! TMFI?... sorry ladies.
I got the heart burn me and tums are once again best buds.
I feel dehydrated but if I drink to much water I feel bloated!
I'm beyond grumpy almost to crazy!
I hope this is only a first trimester thing. I don't know if I can handle this for another 6 months.
I guess it really is true that every pregnancy is different. This one is a heck of a lot harder then the last. Part of that is having to care for the 1st one while one feels like crap. I'm sure that's part of the tired part.
Oh well, I guess it all leads to something wonderful. Maybe this one is a girl? My sister said that she was sick and tired for her second one. But then again that could be the whole second child theory too. All we can do is think pink!
I'll keep you posted. I'm really trying not to complain to much, but I really do feel like crap.

Sick, Sick, Sick

Morning sickness my ASS!
This peanut is giving me nauseousness morning, noon, and night! I do mean this literally.
I'm sick in the morning when I wake up, I'm sick again around 1pm, then again around 10pm! It's horrible!
With Evan I was sick when I woke up, a got it out of my system then I was fine for the rest of the day! I'll take that again please, please?

Scary Spots

Okay so on Sat morning I awoke to spots.
I feeked out a little inside as the day progressed and I prayed and willed it to just STOP!
During my pregnancy with Evan I had several spotting days. But this time I'm more aware of what they could lead to. I was blissfully unaware to the dangers that lay head.
Anyway I continued to pray and will all day at work, I took it as easy as I could. Placing myself at the till as to not be stuck carrying heavy food bags or lifting at all. I was super wussy all day long but I made it through my shift. We went to go see Jordanna at the hospital and my dad afterward. When we got home I checked again and the spotting wasn't getting any worse, but it wasn't totally gone either. I did my best to sleep, but found myself worrying to much, I slept like crap.
The next morning on Sunday I got up and checked right away. Nothing. No spots, nothing.
I breathed a huge sigh of relief! Few! Maybe God is going to let me keep this one.
Luv ya ladies!

Good News, Bad Fears

Okay so as we all know I miscarried the last number 2 child. It was very hard and scary to try again, and frankly I'm still freaked that it will happen again. I didn't want to let myself got to emotionally involved until this morning when I got my first bout of morning sickness. Not that I wasn't taking care of myself, its not like I went out and had a Margaretta. I'm still scared to get my hopes up, too scared to start thinking of names or looking at baby stuff. I'm so scared it will hurt even more this time if the worst should happen.

I am going to say that in the 11 weeks of the last pregnancy I didn't feel any symptoms. No tender boobies, no morning sickness. I just got the grumpies, oily skin and a lot of cramping. This time I'm getting all the normal ones! I'm peeing like crazy, I swear my nipples are going to fall off, and well as explained I got the sickness. So I guess that gives me the hope that all is as it should be, despite my discomfort, it comforting to know my body is doing what it should.

I'm at about 7 weeks with a due date of about Dec 14th.

Well that's it for me today. Have a good one ladies.

Oh Jordanna, if you read this before I get a chance to tell you I'm sorry, but I figured you had enough on your plate right now. I thought I'd keep it on the down low.

I love you ladies.

Its over before it really began.

I noticed some spoting on Wednesday, I noticed some cramping on Thursday. By Friday morning I knew something was up. I tryed calling my OBG-closed. I tryed calling my Family docter-also closed. Earl was home, I told him to call Ave, we're going to Emergency.
To make a long story short the results of this trip to the Sturgeon are horrible. It turns out the baby has not developed since week 8 and my body is just now realizing it.
So that's it, now I wait with pads on hand.
I'm of course devastated. I thought this could never happen to me. My 1st pregnancy was after all problem free. OMG! I can't believe this, I can't believe this, I can't believe this!!!! WHY!!!!!
So I guess this blog ends here.
Good bye number 2.
Please refer back to my 1st blog for future postings.

BBB Yaahoo morning!

Yaahooo!!!!! I actually got some sleep last night! Evan went down to bed at 9pm and didn't come into our room till 7:30! I was so proud of him. He got a special Thomus the Train puffy sticker that I've been saving for very proud moments. I'm hoping this will be a good incentive for him to keep up the good work. A rested Mom is a happy mom after all. My fatigue was starting to hit narcoleptic proportions!

Stickers seem to be the ticket for my boy. He loves them! They're cheep! I love them too. But I think I have to get him a sticker book or something because I keep finding them all over the house. On the tv stand, some of his toys, on the bottom of my socks! I find my feet sticking to the floor sometimes! lol Yup a book is definitely in order! Dollar store here I come!

Well that's pretty much my news. My 1st doc appointment was moved to this coming Monday. (don't ask, lets just say I was once again ready to punch the receptionist in the nose, but she's been fired, so yippy no more screw ups) Anyway so Monday at
3:45 it is.

I also had a doc appointment with our family doctors for 2 reasons. I've been going in every three months about Evan's talking or lack there of. I also wanted to let Dr Anderson know about #2. He was happy that there would soon be another baby in his practice, and gave me a congratulating pat on the back. I said was I was getting rather concerned about the talking issues. I explained about how Evan doesn't get "L" he moves his tong from side to side instead of up and down. This has me concerned, take notice when you talk, your tong is constantly moving up and down! That motion seems like a very important skill for regular talking. Dr Anderson understood my concerns, said he still wasn't overly concerned with the issue, but asked if I wanted to be refereed to a pediatrician who in turn will refer me to a speech therapist. I said heck yes, lets get this ball rolling! I don't want to be dealing with first time speech appointments and a new born at the same time. Maybe if we start earlier we can nip this in the butt before it gets worse. Yes I feel guilty, no I don't really think its all my fault. Being a parent is weird!

Well that's all for me today ladies.

Have a good weekend!

Doc apt...BBB (big boy bed)

Well in one hour is my 1st doc appointment with Dr Coe. Here's hoping he gets the ball rolling. I've felt rather powerless for the last 11 weeks with no real medical proof that baby #2 is on the way. When I hear the heart beat, start getting blood work, ultrasound appointments etc, then all this will be real. Then I'll start stressing about getting the house ready. lol. I guess there's always something.

On the BBB front last night went rather well. I read that we have to just dooke it out, have a battle of wills. I usually win those so I was confident going in:

Here's the steps, relativly simple:

1. Tell them it's bed time in an upbeat loving voice and escort them to their bed.

Evan's reaction:
brack down-temper tantrum-threw up (only a little)
My reaction: cleaned up throw up (not the first time-wow Evan throws up a lot- I'm rather used to it now), changed Evan contued to step 2.

2. Tell them its bed time in a calm but firm voice and escort them back to bed.

Evan's reaction: brack down-temper tantrum-no throw up this time.
My reaction: went and sat at the end of my bed peeking into the room. He could see me too.

3. Every time they leave the bed say nothing and escort them back.

Evan's reaction:
after 5 escorts-total battle time 1 hour: down to whimpering, sat at the end until he passed out and fell backward.

My reaction: A happy dance that involved some moves stolen from John Travolta. I entered room moved Evan to the middle of the bed safely between the bed rails.

Result: He slept most of the night. At 12:30 we had a Sam related incident but Evan returned to sleep when the cat was removed from his head. He again woke at 6:30 and by then my will was gone, he slept with us until 8:30.

Well there you go ladys. It works. I hope you file the 3 step BBB or BGB program until you need it.

Have a good one!

Big boy bed OMG what an under taking!

Well its now the morning of the 3rd night since Evan has been moved to a big boy bed. At first he was getting so upset about bed time he would instantly throw up every where. So I've made us a doc appointment to make sure its not acid reflux. Apparently its quite common in toddlers when they get really upset. If he doesn't have it then he's doing it for attention, which means I can feel less sorry for him and more firm with him.

Each night is getting progressively better. The first night I spent more time in his bed then my own, the second night he slept for about 4 whole hours before the crying started. Then last nights awakes may have been more of a result of Sam coming into the room and snuggling Evan out of a sound sleep. He'll just have to get used to Sam, or used to sleeping with his door closed.

We've now nick named 4 of Evan's stuffies "The bed time 4" Spider Man, Tiger, Elephant and blue puppy make up the group. God forbid the bed time four isn't in bed when Evan is. When he was in his crib we would go through them and show Evan they where there, puppy would lick his face, elephant would make his semi elephant noise etc. Since we've been waiting for Evan to fall a sleep in our arms down stairs then carry him upstairs the bed time 4 have gone to the back burner. I figure we'll get him sleeping through the night in his new bed, then we'll work on the bed time routine again. Call me crazy but cleaning up throw up every night isn't fun, so screw it! I'm doing the no cry method, I don't have the energy for anything else.

I'm all dried up on the energy! The sleepless nights are only adding to my hormonal grumpiness. Well here's hoping Evan sleeps through the night, I may try and close the door to keep Sammy out. Evan can open it if he needs me. I'll let you know how it goes!

Luv ya ladies.

We're Back

Well we're back early. My uncle had a friend emergency to attend to so we headed home right after the gift opening on Sunday. We arrived home very late Sunday night, or if you like very early Monday morning. Here's the highlights and some things I noticed:

1. The wedding was beautiful. Since we where there a day early we helped out at the hall getting everything set up. I of course was put on decorating duty. It was fun to be able to visit with my Aunt and Uncle, cousin Warren and Kendra the bride of course. If we had arrived later I fear we wouldn't have gotten any visiting at all. You know how weddings are, the bride and family are soooo busy. I'm glad we went early. Evan spent most of his time running, after the flower girl Katlyn (age 2 as well) she was super cute. He also ran with my second cousins 2 year old Collin. They where so cute, they hugged a lot. He didn't nap at all while we where there of course. More on Evan and sleeping later.

2. My family is getting old! I have to come to grips with the fact that I'm aging and so there for so are my uncles, aunts, second cousins etc. It scares me to think they may not be around much longer.

3. It was very emotional! I know my preggy hormones have a lot to do with that. But I found it both wonderful and kinda hard to be there. I know my uncle Denny and his family are close to auntie Yvonne and her family. I honestly felt like the black sheep a little at times, but weirdly a welcome black sheep. It was a little hard to look at my auntie, she's a picture of my mom. Being with them all brings back memories. It wasn't till we went to leave that my auntie really showed how she felt about my being there. She hugged me for what seemed forever, said she we so happy I came, she said she wanted to make this hug last, she misted up and of course so did I wondered what it would have been like if my mom was still around. Would my family have been closer? Would we have seen them more often? Probably. There where so many ppl there that knew me, but I of course didn't know them. They talked about my mom, said she was a wonderful lady. I meet a lady that lived next door to her, she gave my mom a "hair cut" my Grama Lawson was furious. It was both hard and nice to hear those things.

4. Yellow head highway from here to Daughen should be re named "Road Kill Highway" OMG every few kms there's something dead on the road. It was gross! Hey I know we're in an election and all but come on get some one out there with a shovel pls!

5. One sort of bad development regarding Evan. He refused to sleep in his play pen. He would get so worked up he would throw up! So we had to lay him on one of the beds and sleep with him. When we got home he again refused to sleep in his crib. Okay, so we had no choice we where exhausted so he slept in our bed. So yesterday we got him a twin big boy bed. Took him to Walmart to pick his bedding, set it up, put the side rails on etc. He passed out and slept in it for 5 hours last night, then woke up with a rather bad fever. So again he ended up in our bed. So I'm not sure if he's just not feeling well, he doesn't like his new bed, or he's just feeling insecure. We left his crib in the room as well so we/he has a choice. We're planning on pushing the subject big time tonight. No more sleeping with mom and dad! We'll stay up all night if we have to! The answer is a resounding NO!

Well that's about it. The trip was good but I'm feeling more tired after this trip then when we went to see my sister! Must be peanuts fault.

Well that's it for me today. Hope everyone had a great Turkey day! Don't forget to vote!

Before I go

Well we're off to Dauphin for a few days for my cousins wedding. I feel like it came up sooo fast, but I guess that's understandable considering the amount of stuff we've been doing.
A quick update of what going on peanut wise:
I've been having some nausea, mostly at night, I think it has more to do with the prenatal vitamin then peanut.
OMG they weren't kidding about showing the second time. My top roll has begun to stick out past my bottom roll. This sucks a little. The good thing about it is I didn't have to buy a new outfit for the wedding. My size 14 pants and blouse from the high school reunion fit again. (I really liked this outfit!) The shirt fits in a way that shows, yes she's preggers, no not just fatter. lol.
The only other thing to report is tired, tired, tired. Looking forward to getting out on the road and seeing all my mom's family. The last time I saw them was at my own wedding. I didn't get to see them at all it seems. I'm looking forward to being able to sit and talk to them. Hopefully Evan decides to stay put for at least 5 minutes at a time, or hopefully Earl decides to step more often so I can visit.
Well that's it for me. Check out facebook, I posted some great pics Crystal sent of her kids. There's a couple of Mannix that look great.
See you when I get back.
Leanne we'll have to do lunch girl. Hang in there!

Finally!

The yard is done! Well done enough for this year anyway. The gardens are in, the play area is done, the patio is in. Oh the relief!
We still have some finishing touches to do. Like bringing in some soil and over seeding the back lawn a little. As you can see from the picture some of the sod didn't take. But if we don't do that till the spring so be it. I'm tired of yard work. I think we've done enough.
Dispit some finishing touches I'm loving it! Evan can ride his bikes on the patio with plenty of space to turn around. (I'm hoping he learns to steer soon, or my flowers are going to take a beating.) I love it, love it, love it! Its great now but next year I'm sure it will be super handy. Evan can run of some steam and I can care for number 2 with all the amenities I need right there. I don't have to go to the park! I don't have to change into jeans if I don't want to!
Speaking of jeans. GRRRRR! My size 15's are feeling a little tight already! Yup already! I'm not even that far along and my tummy is getting hard! I guess all those sit ups for the last two years really didn't do much. I noticed this and made the mistake of stepping on the scale. GRRR I'm no longer in 1 under land. I had a little moment and excepted the fact that I am preggers and yup I'm not going to like what I see on the scale for about the next year.
I am eating healthy with a couple of treats here and there. Earl's birthday dinner was at Montana's but I had the salmon, with steamed veggies and a backed potato. I thought I made a good choice. After that was the birthday cake, which is one of my many weaknesses. This weekend will be a write off too, Earl's b-day BBQ. Cake, chips, hamburgers, hot dogs, veggis, maybe some fruit is on the menu. I'm going to try to stay out of the chips at least. But I may just have to partake, it's been a while. I kind of miss chips.
Well that's it for me today. Have a good one ladies.

Due date changed

When I said May15th I was just guessing. Well I went on line to a due date calculator and it seems I was off by 10 days. According to the calculator my due date is May 6th. So there you have it! May 6th it is.

Now that I reflect on it I'm glad we didn't wait to get peggers in the winter for the following reasons.

1. New born in the middle of winter, bundle them up, freeze lungs etc. etc.

2. If my sister's family and us get together in May we can celebrate new baby and Avleen's birthdays together which would be fun.

3. Okay I just couldn't wait any longer. That's probly my #1 reason.

I had super vivid dreams last night. I remember only small parts but I dreamed I was having a girl. I have had dreams about 2 blond boys before too so I'm not going to let this get in my head. But I am really hoping for a pink one this time. lol.

Well that's it for me today. Have a good one ladies!

Oil!

OMG my body is producing oil! I'm breaking out! My hair always feels dirty! My skin feels slick! I know, I know gross, but true.

That said, I got my first bout of heart burn last night. Between Evan being awake from 1-3 and my heart burn I'm feeling rather tired and yup super grumpy.

Our new garage is now half shingled. Earl should be home from work early and hopefully him and Tracy and finish the job in the next few days. Which means we can move on to finishing up the brick. The end is so near I can taste it! Have I said I can't wait for it to be done? I must have. lol

Oh Happy B-day Leanne!

That's it for me. Have a good one!

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

I finally got my garden!

Well now that the garage has a roof and 4 walls Earl was able to move on to other things! I finally got my dirt! I know, I know it sounds funny but one can't have a garden with out dirt. We also finally started laying some brick! It's starting to look so great! Exactly what I wanted, a cute cottage garden. Like old England with a modern twist.
I got to plant the perennials I got on sale before they froze and I also got to plant some bulbs for the very first time! I can't wait till spring when my dwarf irises, daffodils, crocus, 20 tulips and last but not least 4 bearded iris's all in different colours pop up out of the dirt. The bearded irises get to be about 34" tall! With huge blooms almost 6" across. Like the picture above. I got two pinkish ones, a purple and white one and a black one! I know, I know, I'm weird, but flowers bring me such joy. I think I spent a lot of time in the gardens Sylvia Brown says are on the other side, seeing things grow, and plants in general give me a sense of peace. To bad my job turned to crap, I did enjoy the plant part of it.
Not to much on the preggy front. I'm watching my diet. Eating tones of veggi's, protean, and making sure I get the 3 servings of V-C a day. Not to mention taking my pre N Vitamin. I'm still super tired most of the time, so I've been napping when Evan does. I cleaned the whole top floor of the house this morning and I felt like I just ran a marathon! My tummy sounded like a T-Rex. I made sure Evan and I went outside for an hour. One because it was a gorgeous day and two because that fresh air seems to tucker him out faster. There are so few days left that are good for out side play, I'm going to enjoy it before the long, boring, cooped up winter starts. I hope it doesn't rain tonight so I can take Evan to the park first thing in the morning.
Well that's it for me ladies. Have a good Thurs!
